Lessons Learned from the application of remote operations centers in Mining Operations in Australia and South America”. Following examples of Remote Operations Centres (ROCs) implemented by Stepchange Global across the world, Tony outlined the lessons learned:
- IO and IOC are a technology enabled transformation
- It is not an IT or technology project but is continuous improvement
- An IOC should be designed around the core processes and the organisational structures
- IOC are where the technology comes together and are the visible change in the way
- of working – It is where you make decisions that add value
- It is asset, company and culturally specific
- One size does not fit all
- It may not be write first time
- Management Vision and Active Backing of the Project is critical to success
- Deliver an operational capability
- People, Process, Technology and Organizational change
- It is about changing the way we work to real time, remote, data enabled
- The value is significant and sustainable
