CEO of Stepchange Global Ltd, Tony has extensive experience in the oil and gas exploration and production industry worldwide. Tony has a BA degree from Keele University in Geology and Chemistry, and a Doctorate in Metamorphic Petrology from the University of Manchester. He had a 17-year career with BP that spanned R&D through to front line operations and project management. He was a founder member of BP’s Integrated Operations Program, Field of the Future, and was subsequently the global director for the Advanced Collaborative Environment Program that rolled out real time collaboration centers around the BP portfolio of assets. In 2006 he moved to BG-Group to launch its digital oilfield program under the name iValue. In January 2009 he co-founded Stepchange Global, a dedicated digital oilfield consultancy and advisory company, and has since advised Statoil, BP, PETRONAS, ConocoPhillips, Total, Santos, Origin Energy, ExxonMobil, Chevron, Suncor, Emerson and BAE systems on their Integrated Operations strategies. Tony also consults in integrated operations in the mining sector, most recently for BHP Billiton and Barrick Gold. Tony is regarded as one of the key thought leaders in Digital Oilfield and Integrated Operations and has been active in both the SPE and EAGE.  He has been on the executive and organizing committees for the highly successful Intelligent Energy Conference since their inception in 2008, and is now on the SPE global advisory committee for Digital Energy. Tony also runs a series of popular webinars for the SPE.

Tony has regularly performed leadership roles in multi-disciplinary, multi-company and multi-cultural teams and his work has included;

o    Three years leading the BG-Group iValue program where he was responsible    for strategy and delivery of the company wide digital oilfield initiative.

Two years leading BP’s Advanced Collaborative Environment program, rolling out 20+ drilling, production and expert support centers around the globe.

o    Three years in BP’s Field of the Future program with Global responsibility for Operations and Projects and for Azerbaijan, Angola and Indonesia assets.

o    Three years as an operations manager on the project phase of the Azeri Shah Deniz Gas export project.

o    Five years offshore as an Operations Engineer/Offshore installation Manager

o    Four years in Research and Development into new and novel chemical inhibitors including Hydrate, Scale and Corrosion inhibitors, 12 patents held.

Outside work Tony is happily married to a Chilean with two young sons and a daughter. He lives in West London, and has great enthusiasm for travel.
